Our Roots
Our primary focus is to share insights and inspirations on paradoxical thinking and practice with a wide European and global audience through our newsletters and webinars. What we want to bring, is embedded in our name.
- European:
- Living in Belgium and in Denmark and having started our own paradoxical practices there, it's no surprise that we have a special interest in paradoxical challenges of our continent. However, many of these challenges are universal and equally relevant for a global audience.
- Paradox:
- We want to enthuse people about paradoxical thinking and inspire them to bring it into practice and integrate it their own life and work.
- Academy:
- A place for exchange, learning and engagement, contributing to the growth of insight and wisdom.
Our Mission
Our aim is to bring the paradoxal mindset, ways of working, skills and methodology into the heart of our organizations, communities and professional practices.
In our complex, unpredictable, interconnected and diverse world we see that binary thinking and linear solutions don´t work anymore. We are immediately confronted with the negative and often disruptive effects of one-sided strategies and are daily witnessing how polarization, extremism and black-and-white thinking undermine our work and social relationships, from the smallest to the largest systemic level: family, club, team, organization, neighborhood, society...
We need a new way of thinking, focused on combining the power of both sides. How can we turn narrowing dilemmas, with only two mutually excluding options, into paradoxical challenges, where we can explore together how both sides can complement, balance and reinforce each other?
From our research and practice we passionately believe that a paradoxical perspective helps to create more sustainable solutions to the challenges of the twenty-first century, providing the fundamentals for a fulfilled and balanced life, for better-performing and more innovative organizations, and for a better world.

Who We Are
Lotte Lüscher and Ivo Brughmans have been researching, teaching and practicing paradoxical thinking for the last two decades. Independently form each other and with an initial focus on their home countries Denmark, The Netherlands and Belgium, they have been developing innovative concepts, methods and tools, settting up learning programmes, working with many public and private organizations in all sectors and publishing several books on this topic. However, paradoxical thinking and leading is a theme without boundaries. Through their international publications, research and client work, Lotte and Ivo met, and immediately saw the great opportunity of joining forces to build a European forum and share their passion for paradoxical thinking with the world.
